Terms of service

The service and its current status

Smart sync provides an independent synchronization service for Obsidian vaults. It is not affiliated with Obsidian. The Global service is currently a preview for validation. Features, availability and limits can change as issues are resolved. It has not completed acceptance testing on every supported device family. No service-level availability guarantee is offered for the preview.

Accounts and responsibilities

Use an email address or identity provider account you control. Protect sign-in codes, authorized devices and your encryption password. Use the service only for data you have the right to store and transmit. Do not attempt unauthorized access, distribute malicious content through the service, evade limits or disrupt other users.

Google and GitHub sign-in are optional identity methods subject to provider availability. An account sign-in password or provider login does not replace your vault encryption password. We cannot recover your encrypted notes without that password.

Your content and backups

You retain rights in your content. You permit the processing, storage and transmission necessary to operate synchronization, maintain security and perform the deletion or support actions you request. We do not acquire ownership of your notes. Keep an independent backup and verify sync before removing source copies. Synchronization and server backups do not eliminate the risk of accidental deletion, conflicts, interruptions or data loss.

Plans and payments

All plans currently allow unlimited devices for the account holder. The Free plan provides 50 MB with one cloud vault. The 1 GB plan allows three cloud vaults; the 5 GB, 10 GB and 20 GB plans have no vault-count limit. Unlimited devices does not imply multi-user sharing. Storage is shared across an account. Prices and applicable limits are shown on the pricing page and checkout.

Real billing is disabled during the current Global preview. Stripe checkout is for test payments only. Do not enter real payment details for a test. Test subscriptions may renew in test mode until canceled. Before any future paid launch, the checkout must clearly identify price, currency, billing interval, renewal and cancellation terms. These preview terms do not authorize an undisclosed real charge.

Leaving the service

You can sign out without deleting your account. To delete the account, first delete every cloud vault and wait for cleanup, verify your identity again if requested, then confirm deletion in the plugin. Local notes stay on your devices. A remaining subscription period does not prevent deletion.

Account deletion ends service access. The service attempts to cancel future subscription renewals and expires unfinished checkout sessions; provider failures are retried. Deletion does not automatically issue a refund or remove necessary historical order records. Contact support about payment errors or any rights that apply to you. Data retention is explained in the privacy policy.

Availability and enforcement

Network, hosting and identity providers may be unavailable. We may restrict abusive or compromised access to protect the service and other users. Where practical, we will give notice and an opportunity to address a problem. Applicable consumer rights and legal obligations remain in effect; these terms do not remove rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.

Updates and contact

We will publish revised terms with an updated effective date. Material changes affecting active users will be communicated through an appropriate service channel. Contact admin@smartsync.cc with questions before relying on a feature or storing your only copy of important data.
